We can deliver and pick up roll-off bins of various types & sizes to recycle your scrap metal.

Ecology’s CRV and scrap metal recycling center in Hesperia is there to support the individual and corporate efforts in CRV and scrap metal recycling throughout the high desert.   While a facility also exists in Barstow, many times the military and other industrial manufacturers are more comfortable shipping everything to the larger Hesperia facility.

Our services are an important element of the waste management system for the area, avoiding tons of recyclable materials being placed in landfills and incinerators.  Through our facility, we support recycling and reclamation of both scrap metals and CRV items.

Why Recycling Matters

Recycling metal can have a larger impact than simply freeing up some space or putting a few extra dollars in your pocket.  Taking scrap metal and CRV items to a recycling center helps reduce pollution and contamination.  Greenhouse gas emissions are reduced through recycling since the activities for obtaining new materials are reduced or eliminated.  The energy costs for processing and manufacturing items with recycled material is also often less than making products from all new materials.

Recycling scrap metal and CRV items is part of our responsibility to take care of our planet. We take our commitment to the next level by constantly striving to use the latest and most eco-friendly techniques at all of our Ecology Recycling Centers.

Benefits of Recycling

Do your part in saving the environment by recycling. The benefits of recycling your items are:

  • Recycling saves energy.
  • Recycling helps protect the environment.
  • Recycling reduces incineration ash.

Contamination and pollution can be greatly reduced through recycling, in part because these items don’t end up in the trash, but also because fewer new materials are needed when creating new items. The use of new materials often requires activities such as mining and additional manufacturing processes that increase greenhouse emissions.

Everyone in Hesperia and the surrounding areas have a responsibility to recycle CRV items as their contribution to taking care of our planet earth. In addition to providing access to recycling centers, Ecology constantly strives to use the latest, most environmentally conscious techniques in our processes.

What is CRV?

Many CRV recyclable items fall under California’s CRV laws and regulations which are in place to ensure that consumers are paid for recycling at certified recycling centers.  CRV stands for California Refund Value and outlines the redemption value amounts to be paid to consumers for recycling metals, plastics, and glass found in food and beverage containers.  Some examples of these include soda, beer and juice cans, vegetable juice cans and wine bottles, etc. Saving and recycling these items can pay off.  When processed in large quantities, your CRV payment can add up, making your trip worthwhile.  Of course, most importantly, you’ll participate in the critical job of recycling which is important in order to care for the planet.

What Counts As Scrap Metal?

Scrap metal recycling is usually divided into the categories of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Ecology’s Hesperia CRV and scrap metal recycling center buys both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Iron or steel is present in ferrous metals, which is what sets them apart from other metals. Other elements or metals may also be mixed in with the iron and steel in order to obtain certain properties.  Some common places to find ferrous metals are in vehicle scrap, demolition site scrap, some old appliances, structural steel and metal offsets from manufacturing warehouses and industries.  It is also important to note that ferrous metals are magnetic.

Non-ferrous metals differ in that no iron or steel are mixed in with them and for this reason are more valuable than ferrous metals.  Some common non-ferrous metals are aluminum, copper, brass and stainless steel. Typically, non-ferrous scrap metals may be found in items such as window frames, cars, bicycles, faucets, doorknobs, wires, some appliances, and kitchenware.  Although it may seem counter-intuitive, stainless steel is considered non-ferrous because, although it contains steel, it is not magnetic and also contains nickel.

It is our goal to assist you with your recycling needs and achieve higher recycling rates in the area.  We are committed to providing high-quality recycling services that are both convenient and effective.  For this reason, we strive to make the recycling centers user-friendly, making the process of dropping off recyclables and receiving your CRV redemption payment easy and practical. Through our services, we hope to make a move in the right direction towards caring for our planet.
